It has come to our attention that the users of combination packagings, specifically "V" packs, need to be very aware of how the package was tested. A "V" pack is a package that is designed and intended to be used to achieve compliance with the packaging requirements for many different materials in a variety of different inner-packagings under a wide array of circumstances. Although "V" Packs allow for some variations in how they are packaged and the number of inner containers, some assume that the packer has ‘carte blanche’ to put as many containers as they see fit into the outer packaging. In reality, the packagings must be assembled in exactly the same way as they were when tested with exactly the same amount of cushioning between containers in the packaging and between the inner containers and the outer packaging. A "V" packaging test is not an open door to simply put several containers into one outer container; it must be performed in conjunction with the test report and observe proper closing instructions.
