An ongoing concern of anyone using a UN packaging is having correct and current Closure Instructions. Closure Instructions are critical to insuring the proper closure of a packaging (drum), and can prevent a shipper from receiving a hefty fine from the DOT for non-compliance with the US Code of Federal Regulations. The CFR, Title 49, paragraph 178.2(c), requires that packaging manufacturers give current written instruction to the fillers about the proper closure procedure for their “manufacturer-specific” packaging — Closure Instructions are not generic.

A new feature of the Skolnik hazmat drums will be that every durable side UN label will have a QR Code that, with the use of a Smartphone, will link directly to the Skolnik Closure Instructions. Shippers will always have access to the correct and current instructions on every drum. This means Closure Instruction compliance with every drum!

Even with our new QR Code marking, every Skolnik order is still shipped with a printed copy of the Closure Instructions, and you can view video instructions of the Closed Head and Open Head Closure with Bolt Ring, and Open Head Closure with Quick Lever Instructions. In addition, written Closure Instructions are also available in Spanish. Check out all our Closure Instruction options here and see a copy of the QR Code here.
