Hazmat response
In association with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) works to protect people and the environment form the risks inherent in the transportation of hazardous materials domestically and worldwide—by pipeline, air, sea, road, and rail. First established by statute in 1974, the purpose of the Hazardous Materials Transportation Program is to identify and manage risks presented by transportation of hazardous materials in commerce. In correlation with this program as well as with PHMSA, Skolnik steel drums uphold hazmat safety considerations, because of the importance to involve the public, industry, and other interested parties in determining different levels of risk. Today, Skolnik steel drums and Salvage Drums follow federal regulations to manage the risks associated with transportation of hazardous materials and dangerous goods. The Department of Transportation continues to identify and manage potential hazards, monitor manufacturing practices, and enforce safe transport of dangerous goods. Consistent with the DOT mandate, Skolnik’s carbon, stainless, and Salvage drums are thicker, heavier, and stronger than industry standards.
