Only six months ago, we reported on the retirement of Al Roberts from DOT‘s Research and Special Projects Administration (RSPA) after serving the DOT for over 40 years. Apparently, Al was not ready to do the extended travel that he had planned, and instead, has been chosen as the new President for the Hazardous Materials Advisory Council (HMAC) in Washington, DC. As of April 17th, 2000, Al will be presiding over one of the most well respected and influential organizations dealing with the safe transport and disposal of dangerous goods globally. Being on the regulatory enforcement side of the dangerous goods world and crossing over to industry will be a natural compliment to dangerous goods regulatory opportunities and programs. Wishing you much success Al, and welcome back to the wonderful world of HazMat!
