It‘s A New Year — Have You Checked Your Hazmat Training Status?

DOT requires that all hazmat employees performing regulated functions and/or who directly affect hazardous materials transport receive initial and recurrent training. Initial training must be completed before being allowed to work. This, followed up with recurrent training, at least once every three years will insure retention of skills and knowledge. Training is also needed when there are changes in regulations. non-compliance with these training regulations can carry fines from the DOT for as much as $27,500. Training programs such as those given by DGAC (www.dgac.org), are available if your company does not have an in-house program.
