United Nation Certified packagings require that shippers take into account shipping conditions for package selection. This highlights the need for packagers to purchase packaging that not only meets, but will exceed the performance test criteria for their contents. While selection of a drum that marginally passes a Performance Test is a legal purchase, the ultimate liability of the package to successfully perform in transit and storage is the responsibility of the shipper. Considerations should include mode of travel, block and brace options, palletization, size of shipment and other pertinent conditions.
