For many years, we have been informing our customers that it is customary for an Inspector from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to visit your facility, request to see the UN containers on hand, purchase some of these containers, and then send them to the DOT‘s Tobyhanna Test Laboratory in Tobyhanna, PA. At the time of the visit, the Inspector might ask for documentation such as UN Design Type Certifications and Closure Instructions. It is even likely that they will want to see invoices from the purchase of these containers. Therefore, Skolnik is ready to assist with all the support that you might need in order to comply with these DOT requests. We offer documentation copies as well as help in understanding interpretations of the Code of Federal Regulations (49CFR). Only recently, one of our customers called for help and we responded with immediate and complete information resulting in the following compliment: “I wanted to thank you and all your people for the fast and efficient sharing of information to enable us to show intent to be compliant with the DOT inspector after his visit. We won’t know much about the outcome of that visit for some time yet, but at least with your help we can show that we honored all his requests for documentation to be on hand.” Remember to call on our staff if you find yourself in a similar situation.
